Yes, concrete pools are compatible with saltwater systems, but they require a high-quality interior finish, such as epoxy, quartz, or pebblecrete, to resist salt corrosion. Over time, saltwater can be more abrasive on concrete surfaces compared to traditional chlorine pools, so proper sealing and maintenance help extend the pool’s lifespan. Regular resurfacing and monitoring of pH levels will keep a saltwater concrete pool in great condition.
Concrete pools can be finished with various materials, including plaster, pebble, tile and aggregate. Each finish offers different aesthetic and tactile qualities, allowing for customisation to match personal preferences and design themes. The choice of finish can also affect the pool's maintenance requirements and longevity.
Salt is added directly to the pool water by distributing it evenly across the pool’s surface. It’s best to add salt gradually and allow it to dissolve completely before testing the salt level. Running the pool pump and filter system helps to circulate and mix the salt thoroughly.
Mineral pools provide a therapeutic swimming experience due to the presence of minerals like magnesium and potassium. These minerals can help soothe and relax muscles, improve skin health and reduce stress. Additionally, mineral pools are often gentler on the eyes and skin compared to traditional chlorine pools.
